NEWS

July 6, 2009
For those of you who may not know, the surgical procedure I had done after the hockey season has had life changing result thus far, as to reduce my everyday pain.  I now have the desire, more than ever, to return to the ice to help all of our PYHL players with skill development.  I have also recruited Ian Hebert (former Birmingham Bull and D-1 College star) as well as Adam English (University of Alabama D-111 All American and first ever Captain) to get on board with the PYHL and the City of Pelham as instructors.  In addition to the three of us, Randy Glick, the PYHL Coach in Chief, and a few selected PYHL veteran coaches, will be putting on a 5 week Skill Development Program that will cover all the basics of the game.
The program will also feature intense power skating instruction from Danny Tate, Pelham Skate School Director, and Eric Mumper, an elite skating instructor with the Skate School.  As week 5 comes to an end, the second ice sheet will be coming up here at the Complex which will lead us into our Learn to Play program, Travel Hockey Tryouts and registration for the '09-'10 season.  This PYHL group of instructors are also planning to offer a body-checking clinic and a shooting clinic as we head into September.  You will participate in the age group that you will be playing with in the '09-'10 season.
The times and dates for the program are as follows:
Junior Mites/Mites – 6:30-7:30PM
7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10  Power Skating Week 1 & 3
Bantam/Midget – 7:45-8:45PM
7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10
Squirt/PeeWee – 7:45-8:45PM
7/16, 7/23, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13  Power Skating Week 2 & 4

The fee for the 5 week Skill Development Session will be $75.00 per player – a second sibling will be $50.00 and those lucky enough to have a third, the cost will be $25.00.  Goaltenders are welcome and needed. The skating will be very beneficial, plus shooting and game-like drills will be part of the sessions. Payments will be made as you arrive for each ice time.
